Trend Bible..

Today we were introduced to Alice who works for Trend Bible,
getting an idea of what sort of work they produce and how ourselves as budding
designers can start to predict upcoming trends.
Trend Bible forecasts future trends and publish a bi-annual trend books for
home interiors and kids lifestyle trends, telling consumers what their customers will want.
Tesco is one brand
which uses these books which has increased their profits to up to £5 billion and
doubled growth on their home range by predicting the right trends.
There are over 30 trend agencies with different specialisms which gain their
knowledge through events, seminars, graduate shows, craft fairs, flea markets
and exhibitions. The benefits of this are to gain more business,
increase sales and press attention and to give staff faith in the company.
The downside of getting trends wrong are customers will go elsewhere,
ranges will look out of touch, no press attention and the company will
stand out for all the wrong reasons.
'The Tipping Point' book by Malcom Gladwell explains when
trends stop becoming niche.
Catwalks, the Sartorialist blog, street style which gives the designer more inspiration,
social events - spending cuts, cultural events - films, exhibitions,
food and car industry, influential people, google alerts,
technology and fabric development,
food, travel, blogs and your instinct are all ways on how to
trend forecast.
Many websites are available to help with this such as:
