FMP, Week 6.

Week 6
·        Started pattern cutting – took design from sketch and swatch sheet and began doing pattern for it – found really quick as the design is quite simple – would like to be more independent with it still – cant do a pattern for the bow – play around on stand first for it and as the peplum will be pleated it would be too difficult to do a pattern for it – figure out when it comes to making the real garment
·        Need to source the fabrics from James Hare – found I need to order them in – take a few weeks to receive – work out how much fabric I will need before ordering – save on wastage
·        Began creating the toile – first cut out in calico fabric - really pleased with how quickly it has happened – started with adding darts to the pieces – pressed the darts the wrong way at first – created the skirt wrap over, sewed the collar to the bodice, sewed the bodice and skirt panels together and started with the sleeves – had difficulty as I hadn’t measured where I need to gather from and the amount to gather – had to look back at pattern and alter – take some gathers out and alter the cut of the sides so it hangs more elegantly

To Do -
Add more centimetres to the collar pattern, take the shoulders back 1cm for the sleeve gathers and alter the sleeve gather pattern.

Toile Number 1!
